Retirees could see biggest benefits bump since 1981
<p>While everyone has been watching inflation closely, Thursday’s Consumer Price Index is especially important for millions of retirees and others who depend on Social Security benefits. That’s because the annual cost of living adjustment for 2023 is based on the September monthly CPI number. Given that we’ve already seen inflation increase 8.2 percent over the past year, it’s likely that we’ll see one of the biggest increases in Social Security checks in more than 40 years.</p>
