In 2018, Twitter identified nearly 4000 accounts associated with a single Russian owned company which were responsible for close to 176,000 tweets in the 10 weeks leading up to the 2016 presidential election. That same company was spotlighted in the official “Report on the Investigation into Russian Interference in the 2016 Presidential Elections” released by the U.S. Department of Justice in 2019.
