Beluga Whale
Beluga whales do not have visible knees, but their skeletal structure includes pelvic bones, remnants of hind limbs from their evolutionary past. These bones are not connected to the spine and have no functional purpose. While their streamlined, torpedo-shaped bodies lack external knee-like joints, their flexible necks allow for unique movements uncommon in other cetaceans. This flexibility, along with their friendly appearance and vocalizations, has made them a fascinating subject of study. Despite the myth that beluga whale knees exist, the folds often mistaken for knees are actually blubber, insulating them in cold Arctic waters.
